What was it really like growing up in Hawaii?

Everyone always wonders this! Here's a story about the barber guy who always made me laugh when I was a kid.

I did a lot of surfing too. Click the surfer in the header to see some really good surfers in action.

Kudos to Westridge Elementary School!

Lucky me with the third and fourth graders of Westridge Elementary School in Lake Oswego, Oregon. These committed students spent weeks reading and studying UNDER THE BLOOD-RED SUN. They were one of the most prepared groups of students Ive ever had the privilege of speaking to. Their assignment was to find instances of certain worthwhile human qualities within the text and note their discoveries on yellow stickies, which they then posted under the particular quality (see the bulletin board in the background). I was so impressed I HAD to have a photo for my website. I don't think this author is ever so thrilled as when he visits a group as well prepared and interested as this (look at those faces -- wow). Kudos to the students, teachers, and administrators of Westridge Elementary School. Brilliant!
